COATINGS

Fire-retardant and/or fire-resistant coatings can contribute to reducing fire propagation as well as to an increased fire resistancy during a fire. The coatings can be divided into the groups transparent and covering coatings or according to substrates on which they are usually applied.

The coatings have been tested extensively on both performance in a fire situation and durability in normal circumstances.

Whereas in the past fire-retardant/resistant coatings tended to show an orangeskin-like finish, the arrival of the HCA products has shown that aesthetic aspects may well be required from fire-retardant/resistant coatings as well.
